The New York State Office of Court Administration banned all eyewear or headwear containing cameras, microphones, or other recording technology from more than 1,240 state, county, city, town, and village courts statewide, making New York the first state to enact such a ban. Anyone entering a courthouse — including attorneys, court staff, and the public — must surrender the devices to uniformed court officers for safekeeping; those who need prescription lenses are advised to bring a regular pair as backup.
