Western Australian Public Schools (statewide)
Applies to all public schools in Western Australia — this pin marks central Perth as a representative point, not a single location
Reported: September 22, 2026
The Western Australian Government announced a ban on smart glasses capable of secretly recording images and audio in all WA public schools, taking effect from the first day of Term 4, 2026. The ban applies to students, staff, parents, carers, visitors and contractors on school sites and during school activities, including when representing the school offsite. Education Minister Sabine Winton cited community concerns about careless, criminal or malicious use of the devices and the need to protect student and staff privacy. Principals can grant exemptions for students with special circumstances, such as medical conditions. The ban builds on WA’s existing “off and away all day” mobile phone policy.
